Environmental Health

The purpose and goal of Environmental Health is to protect public health, safety and the environment. This may best be described as applied preventive medicine (i.e. serving to avert occurrences which may have deleterious health effects on the public). Staff implement state and locally mandated programs designed to protect the public from health and safety hazards. The Department provides these services through education, planning and enforcement, with an emphasis on education.
